Constitution of the Empire of Japan
The Constitution of the Empire of Japan (大日本帝國憲法, dainihon teikoku kenpou) was an early constitution of Japan. It is known more generally as the Meiji Constitution.
Description
History
The Constitution of Japan came into effect and replaced this constitution on May 3rd, 1947. The diet which had been elected a week earlier remained in place for the new constitution's legislature.
