Office of Science and Technology Policy
The Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) is an executive office.
Composition
The office is led by a director, who simultaneously serves as the assistant to the president for science and technology. This position is appointed by the president with Senate approval.
History
The predecessor to this office was the President's Science Advisory Committee (PSAC), which Nixon dissolved following several resignations in 1973.
In 1976, following discussions with the new Ford administration, the National Science and Technology Policy, Organization, and Priorities Act established the office.
