Anton Denikin

Anton Denikin (Антон Деникин) was a general of the Imperial Russian Navy and acting Supreme Ruler of Russia.

History

Following the October Revolution, Denikin fled to Novocherkassk with Lavr Kornilov. Together they formed the Volunteer Army to fight in the civil war for the White Movement.

Denikin's armies carried out tens of thousands of killings in the White Terror.

Policies

Kolchak resigned as supreme ruler in January 1920, naming Denikin as the successor. Denikin however did not accept the title, and himself resigned his command in April.

Legacy

Denikin lived in exile in France. He was approached by the Germans following the invasion of France, but refused to cooperate.

Following the war, he relocated to the United States for the remainder of his life.
