Genghis Khan, born Temüjin, was the founder and khagan of the Mongol Empire.

Reign
By the 1180s, Genghis had consolidated his claim to the khanate of Khamag Mongol. He was a vassal of Toghrul, but by 1196 he was de facto an equal power. In 1202 the two fought for control, with Genghis emerging the victor within a year.
By 1207, Genghis had consolidated power over all the khanlig.
Legacy
Genghis died in 1227 during the conquest of China.
The Mongol Empire would go on to irrevocably change the geopolitics of all Eurasia.
