Quadrilateral Security Dialogue

The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, more commonly known as the Quad, is a cooperative and prospective treaty organization.


History

Abe proposed a security dialogue in 2007. The inaugural meeting was attended by Howard, Singh, and Cheney.

The cooperative was paused by the Rudd government in 2008.

Commitment to the cooperative was re-established at the 2017 ASEAN summit in a meeting of Abe, Turnbull, Modi, and Trump.


Membership

Membership has not expanded since its establishment or re-establishment.
