American Convention on Human Rights

The American Convention on Human Rights is a treaty recognizing many civil and political rights.


History

The American Convention on Human Rights was agreed in 1969 in San José. It came into force when Grenada ratified the convention in 1978.

The convention is enforced by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights.
