History
As a general of the Georgian state militia, Coffee oversaw supply and logistics.
He served in the Georgia Senate for 1819-1827 (possibly to represent Telfair county?).
Coffee was elected to Congress in 1832. (At this time, Georgia elected all 9 members from a state-wide at-large district.)
He died on September 25, 1836; news of his death spread slowly and he was posthumously re-elected in November.
