Dodd-Frank Act

The Dodd-Frank Act, more formally the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, rewrote federal financial regulations.


Description

The act increased the FDIC insurance limit to $250,000 per ownership category.


History

Obama proposed new regulatory legislation in 2009. It was introduced as a bill by sponsors Frank and Dodd.

The act was passed and signed into law in July 2010.
