United States House of Representatives

The United States House of Representatives is the lower body of the U.S. federal legislature.


Composition

Per the Apportionment Act (1911) and the Reapportionment Act (1929), the house has 435 voting representatives.

There are also 5 non-voting delegates from Washington, D.C., Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa. Additionally, there is an elected resident commissioner of Puerto Rico, who functions as a representative in all matters except votes on the floor. (For example, they can be a voting member of committees.)
