History
The Chickasaw nation emerged from the Chocktaws; northern martial tribes were exiled from the larger confederacy.
Chikasaws frequently warred with the Creek, Chocktaw, and Cherokee nations to their south. As the conquistadors pushed through Creek territory, they made contact as well.
The Natchez nation joined into the Chikasaws following their war with the French.
As the British made contact, a more peaceful relation of intermarriage and trade emerged. Traders became influential political forces; Houma was overthrown by this interest group.
