National Crime Victimization Survey
The National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) is an annual survey operated by the Bureau of Justice Statistics to study criminal victimization.

The NCVS was redesigned for the 1993 survey. Another redesign is in-progress for use in the 2026 survey.
In 2016, samples within the largest 22 states (Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin) were reallocated and boosted to enable production of state-level estimates.
