Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) (Slovenska demokratska stranka) is a political party in Slovenia.

History

The party has formerly been known as the Social Democratic Union of Slovenia and the Social Democratic Party (SDSS) (Socialdemokratska stranka Slovenije).

Pučnik led the party to establish a coalition known as Democratic Opposition of Slovenia (DEMOS) (Demokratična opozicija Slovenije). This coalition won a majority in the first free elections held in 1990.

In 2003, the party was renamed to Slovenian Democratic Party.
