Jože Pučnik was a SDSS politician in Yugoslav Slovenia.

History
Pučnik was born in occupied Slovenia.
Growing up in the post-war Yugoslavia, he became a renowned political dissident. He was repeatedly arrested and jailed.
He became leader of the SDSS in 1989, and established a coalition known as Democratic Opposition of Slovenia (DEMOS) (Demokratična opozicija Slovenije). This coalition won a majority in the first free elections held in 1990.
Legacy
Pučnik is considered a founding figure in the modern Slovenia.
