Example

As a standalone JavaScript file: 

console.log("Hello, world!");

This can be used in a web page like: 

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
  <meta charset="utf-8">
  <title>Example</title>
  <script src="example.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
  <p>"Hello, world!" has been written to the console.</p>
</body>
</html>

The script can also be embedded directly into the HTML like: 

<script>
  console.log("Hello, world!");
</script>
