Maximum Principle

The maximum principle (MP) is an approach for solving constrained maximization systems. Also sometimes referred to as Pontryagin's maximum principle.

Description

I don't really get it but it's essentially an evolution of the Lagrangian method for dynamic systems. The Lagrange multiplier changes from being a constant (i.e. the vector λ) to being time-dependent (i.e. the function λ(t)). The Lagrangian function incorporating these time-dependent states evolves into a Hamiltonian function.
