Bash Pipeline

Pipelines

A pipeline is a series of commands separated by | or |&.

In the case of commanda | commandb, the STDOUT of commanda is used as STDIN for commandb.

In the case of commanda |& commandb, the STDOUT and STDERR of commanda are used as STDIN for commandb.

In either case, each command is executed in a subshell, and the exit code is set according to the final command.
