Limit Point

A limit point (or accumulation point) of a set is a point that can be approximated by members of a set.


Description

In the topological sense, a point x is a limit point for a set A if every neighborhood of x contains a member of set A that is different from x.

In other words, it isn't sufficient for a set to contain a point; the set must be able to approximate that point without referencing the point itself. Compare to the concept of adherent points, which do allow self-referencing. All limit points are adherent points, but not all adherent points are limit points.
