The Allied Powers were the coordinated military forces of the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Japan, and the United States during World War 1.

History
The Allied Powers were preceded by the Triple Entente of United Kingdom, France, and Russia.
Japan joined following the declaration of war.
Italy joined the Allied Powers in 1915. Sonnino had negotiated promises for Austrian lands in exchange for participation.
Russia was greatly destablized by the war. The February Revolution in 1917 was seen as a sign that peace would be negotiated on the Eastern front; the October Revolution confirmed it.
The United States joined the war in April 1917.
