Wright Patman

Wright Patman was a Democratic politician, representative in the Texas House of Representatives, and a congressman.


History

Patman was elected to Texas' House of Representatives in 1920 and served until he was appointed to a district attorney position.

In 1928 he was elected to represent TX-1; he would continue serving until his death in 1976.

He was one of the committee chairs overthrown in the 1975 revolt against the seniority system. (He had chaired the House Banking Committee since 1963.)


Policies

Patman was a cosponsor of the Robinson-Patman Act.
