== History ==

The Quinnipiac nation settled around the harbor of the Quinnipiac River.

Amid the [[UnitedStates/Pequot|Pequot]] War, the tribe was effectively vassalized to [[UnitedStates/Connecticut|Connecticut]].

The primary settlement, also referred to as Quinnipiac, was purchased by English immigrants in 1638 and re-established in 1640 as [[UnitedStates/NewHaven|New Haven]].
