Military Entrance Processing Command
The Military Entrance Processing Command (MEPCOM) is a DOD command responsible for enlisted recruitment.
Composition
MEPCOM is a joint services command overseen by the deputy assistant secretary for Military Personnel Policy, reporting to the undersecretary of Personnel and Readiness.
The command is led by a commander.
Enlisted recruits are funneled through the dozens of Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) spread across the continental U.S.; Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico have one MEPS each. In addition, there are currently two Remote Processing Sites (RPS).
The command is divided into two sectors (Eastern and Western), and then further subdivided into 12 regional battalions. Note that San Juan is organized into the 10th battalion, alongside the Deep South states; and that Anchorage and Honolulu are organized into the 5th battalion, with the Pacific Northwest states.
