Private Information

Private information is any information that individuals reasonably expect is private.

Compare to PII and PHI.


Definition

If an individual has a reasonable expectation that no observation or recording is taking place, or has a reasonable expectation that information provided will not be made public, then any collected information qualifies as private information.

This definition is dependent on circumstances, including setting and culture.
