United States Department of Education
The United States Department of Education (ED) is an executive department of the federal government. It administers the federal financial aid system and monitors schools.
Composition
The department is led by a secretary, deputy secretary, and undersecretary.
The secretary oversees several offices as well as the Institute of Education Sciences (IES).
