Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson was a Democratic politician, congressman, and president of the United States. He was also a general of the U.S. Army and was appointed as the first military governor of the Florida territory.

History
Jackson rose to martial prominence through the Red Stick War. He negotiated the terms of the Treaty of Ft. Jackson, invaded Pensacola, and repelled a British invasion at New Orleans in December 1814. (After the Treaty of Ghent had been signed but before news had reached the front.)
Jackson remained a nationalist and agitator in the South. He organized the removal of many Creek and Cherokee tribes. He ordered the re-invasion of Spanish Florida in July 1816 to demolish the Negro Fort. In late 1817, he re-invaded again with intent to seize the colony. (This annexation would be officiated in the Adams-Onis Treaty in 1819.)

Policies
Jackson's trade policies leaned towards protectionism. While the Tariff of 1828 was passed under and signed into law by Adams, Jackson did not try to repeal or reform it. Rather, he escalated the nullification crisis.
