History
King Rama V established the Post and Telegraph Office in 1883; shortly thereafter his government joined the UPU in 1885. In 1898 the office was consolidated into the Department of Mail and Telegraph.
In 1977, the department was privatized to the state-owned enterprise Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT).
In 2003, CAT was divided into the modern Thailand Post and CAT Telecom.
