History
In May 2024, military interests opened a lawsuit against Thavisin over the appointment of Pichit Chuenban to the cabinet. Despite Chuenban's quick resignation, by August the case was heard by the Constitutional Court; they deposed the government. Paetongtarn Shinawatra rapidly emerged as the only leadership candidate from the ruling coalition.
