Swiss People's Party (SVP) (Schweizerische Volkspartei) is a political party in Switzerland.

History
The party was established in 1971 as a merger of several parties: namely the Party of Farmers, Traders and Independents (BGB), and the Democratic Party. They rose as an alternative to the much older CVP.
