Performative citizenship is a theoretic lens and framework for analyzing political and ethical acts.
Description
A legal definition of citizenship ascribes specific rights and liberties to a fixed population, usually with some restriction founded similarly in legalism.
Performative citizenship, in contrast, describes citizenship as the active claiming of rights and duties by a population. These claims are pressed in performative acts (e.g., art, protest, etc.).
