GroupAdd

groupadd(8) creates a group.


Installation

Linux and BSD distributions will either have groupadd(8) pre-installed, or direct users to instead use addgroup(8).


Usage

groupadd GROUPNAME

To force a specific ID, try:

groupadd --gid 1234 example

GroupMod

To modify an exising group, such as renaming it, use groupmod(8):

groupmod --new-name newname oldname

GroupDel

To delete a group, use groupdel(8).

groupdel GROUPNAME
