Government
Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements. Although they have official names, colloquially they are only referred to by number.
Paris is in the region of Île-de-France, and notably the regional council (conseil régional) convenes in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine rather than in Paris. Created in 2016, the new designation of Metropolis of Grand Paris (Métropole du Grand Paris) is arguably the more relevant regional administrative body.
