Old Czech Party

The Old Czech Party (Staročeši), officially named the National Party (Národní strana), was one of the first Czech political parties.

Platform

History

The Old Czech Party emerged from the revolutions of 1848. The party was defined by Czech self rule and ideals of passive resistance. The members would boycott the reichsrat.

The Young Czechs broke from the party in 1868 when seven members abandoned the boycott.

The more progressive Realists broke from both of these parties in 1899 and 1900.

The Old Czechs and Young Czechs re-merged in 1918 when the Czechoslovak National Democratic Party formed.
