Rijeka
Rijeka is a city in Croatia.
History
Rijeka was settled by two groups, the Celtic settlement of Tharsatica and Libruni clans. The Romans rebuilt the city as Flumen.
After the city was burned down by Attila the Hun, Croats resettled the area as Rika svetoga Vida (literally "the river of Saint Vitus"). From 925 the city was a part of the Croatia. It is commonly grouped with the Dalmatian city states.
In 1446 Rijeka was sold to Frederick III. Excepting a brief Napoleonic conquest, it remained in the Habsburg Empire.
