History
Pag was settled by Croats within the kingdom of Croatia. In 1244, Bela IV granted it town rights. From 925 the city was a part of the . It is commonly grouped with the Dalmatian city states.
Pag was under Venetian rule from 1403 until 1797, then was ceded to the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
