Policies
Despite an invitation to the scramble for Africa, Austria under Franz Joseph did not seek to establish colonies. Furthermore, following the Spanish-American War, Austria had an opportunity to purchase Rio de Oro. The Hungarian Parliament vetoed the purchase.
